Colombo To Sigiriya by train
The first transfer option we checking for your reference here is the possibility of making the transfers all the way from Colombo to Sigiriya. The disappointment is there is no direct train transfer that connect Colombo and Sigiriya. Hence, if you are planning to make it by train, it would be a bit challenging to make so that will take considerable time and a lot of energy.
If you plan to make your transfer from Colombo to Sigiriya the best possible option you get is getting to Colombo Fort Central railway station, and you will find a train that direct to a destination name Habarana which is the closest railway station to Sigiriya. The second public transfer option available for you is getting to the public bus. Similar to the train transfer options you get, buses are also so not a convenient option to consider as there is no direct and comfortable bus transfer available.
The overall journey time for bus transfers would be four to five hours depending on the road conditions and weather conditions. Also certain public holidays may also affect accordingly.
From the Pettah, Bastian bus station you can get either Anuradhapura, Kaduruwela or Trinco bus and get down at Dambulla whereas you have to get another bus or a tuk or a taxi to proceed to Sigiriya.
